Hello and thanks for visiting.
One of the main reasons customers hate being contacted by salesmen is that they are afraid to be forced into or tricked into buying something that they don’t need or that doesn’t perform at the promised level.
By selling in a matter that tricks customers does never help you in the long run.
All that happens is that you get a whole lot of unhappy customers and sooner or later you will go out of business.
What I learned many years ago is “selling is helping”.
If you genuinely want to help you customers by giving them the best possible solution and together finding out if your product is the right one for them, you are doing something most salesmen miss.
You are creating a base of loyal customers that will just keep coming back to you time after time.
My friend Marcus Sheridan wrote a post about the method of sales teaching, I teach, therefore I sell.
By educating your customers in your products and services you can help them find the right solution.
Of course sometimes it will turn out that your product wasn’t right for them and they won’t need your product.
What do you think would happen if you told a customer so much about your product that you both realize it wasn’t the right match?
That customer will probably be so amazed by your honesty that they will tell people they know about you and your product and have them contact you to see if they need your product.
By being as honest as you can when selling really helps.
It keeps customer happy, but it also really helps your self-esteem.
If all you do all day is lie and try to force people to buy your products you will not be happy with yourself or your job. But by being honest and trying to find the best possible match for your customers and coming up with great solutions that can help them with their lives or business then you are a hero. Your self-esteem will go through the roof and you will look forward to going to work every day.
Sales can be one of the hardest and most exhausting jobs in the world or it can be very easy, very lucrative and very fun.
It is all up to you and what values you stand for and develop.
